No Year Resolutions
Happy 2016 blogosphere friends!
What a surprise when I looked back at last year’s post and discovered that I
had actually achieved all five of my 2015 New Year blog resolutions. These were
my Project 333 resolutions, unfortunately I had made other resolutions in
different areas of my life with which I failed miserably, like joining the
local library – perhaps I'll get round to it this year?
My Project 333 goals for 2015
were:
1. Recycle
the remaining 35 clothing items – all gone, including the Aquascutum coat which
hung on valiantly until the end.
2. Keep
the overall clothes total at 80 – done, currently
3. Restrict
any new purchases to strictly technical clothing – done, and there were quite a
few purchases too… However, I did manage to recycle some of the older technical
clothes and those that did not really fit to one of my FB group’s refugee
project.
4. Keep
to a colour scheme – done, the brown has now all but disappeared from the
capsule. This encouraged me to sell a brown-themed Lovelinks bracelet on FB and
generate some funds for my favourite dog charity, Twilight.
5. Tackle
the remaining areas – shoes, bags and accessories.
Throughout the year, the
principles of Project 333 spread to many other areas although the barn is still
harbouring some junk. The sewing machine found a new home in return for a
donation to Twilight and I started to play the clarinet again. A major change
was the decision towards the end of the year to become vegetarian – or at least
as vegetarian as is possible in France.
So, now it’s time to make some
resolutions for 2016 and hope that I can keep them. But wait, why make more
resolutions? I’ve recently started using Headspace, a mindfulness app, and I
believe this is beginning to have a positive influence. So, why not just aim to
enjoy a simple, reflective life and keep doing ‘more of the same’ along the
path to minimalism? That’s why this year I’m not making any New Year’s
resolutions.
Bonne nouvelle année!
